Ron Warren is a Nammy nominated composer/arranger as well as a performer on both Native American flutes and keyboards. His works in a wide range of media have been heard in important venues throughout the United States and Europe. He has recently performed on both flutes and keyboards with renowned world musicians such as Joseph Fire Crow, Coyote Oldman, Ash Dargan, Jeff Ball, Peter Phippen, and Mary Youngblood. Ron was the first Native American flutist to perform at the Inter-American Development Cultural Center in Washington, DC, participated in a concert and educational program at the Stone Ridge School which was taped for overseas broadcast by “Voice of America”, has been featured on Montgomery County Television, and has recently performed with his band Taiowe at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC.
Ron’s breakout CD, Heartbeats of the Forest World, featuring music for Native American flutes, acoustic guitar and percussion, received the 2005 Individual Artist Award from the Maryland Arts Council. It has received regular national airplay, excellent reviews and strong audience support since its release in 2003.
On his second release CD, Dancing the Full Moon, Ron focuses on the contemporary side of Native American flute music venturing into Americana and Jazz to full on Rock n’ Roll. Dancing the Full Moon has received airplay on Pacifica Radio WPFW and Native Radio KSFR, has been a Front Page feature at CD Baby, and CD of the Month at International Online Music Magazine in July 2005. It has also received a Native American Music Award nomination for 2006 Best World Recording.
Ron’s latest CD, Morning Star Evening Star, is an exploration into the depths of the Native American flute while honoring the tradition of the Venus sacred calendar. This album features Ron on the flutes as well as his talents on hand drums, shakers, rattles, and other various percussive instruments.
